Safety First! Safety First?
In 2023, a cadet preparing for a selection process confided in me that despite thorough preparation, he became extremely nervous during simulator exercises. To help him gain deeper self-awareness, we recorded his simulator session with a GoPro and carefully analyzed his facial expressions, body language, and reactions to various scenarios. While I had previously used recordings to study specific phenomena, reviewing an entire multi-hour simulation minute by minute was an incredibly demanding task. Yet, the insights gained were invaluable.
This led me to wonder: why couldnโt this process be partially automated? This question sparked the journey that ultimately resulted in the launch of AeroMind in 2025.
Back in 1998, I had a conversation with a professional musician (Laszlo Benko from OMEGA band) in his fifties. After emphasizing multiple times that he worked professionally, I asked him what sets an amateur apart from a professional. He replied:
“An amateur may occasionally win competitions and deliver outstanding performances. A professional does this consistently because they understand exactly what it takes to stay among the best. They analyze themselves, know themselves deeply, are self-critical, and harness countless factors to enhance their performance.”
The Safety First motto can only truly apply when working with professional pilots.
